Pulling Out The Medium Guns!

Yes I know the saying usually goes something like
"Lets Pull Out The Big Guns!"
which is what I said to my nurse this morning!
The convo went like this..
She said "I was so sad when I saw your name on
my list yesterday!" "What the hell is going on!?"
Ha!
I said "I was going to ask you the same thing!"
"I have been here over a year,
I think it's time to pull out the big guns!"
her reply was
"Yes we could but do you have have the money
for the big guns?"
"Well no not right this very second" I replied
"How about we pull out the Medium Guns for now!!"
"Deal lets do it!"
We laughed for awhile and then the Dr. entered.
My scan was fine and I was cleared to start round 3 of Femara
But Dr. G didn't just leave after he cleared me, he continued
to talk about options and what to do next.
It was almost like he was saying straight to my face
You need to do more!
So about an hour after my appointment I called
my nurse and requested we throw the injectables in now!
why wait?! why do the same thing again if it didn't work the first
2 times?! Why not throw some Gonal F in there! :)
So that is the new plan!
Femara days 3-7 Gonal-F 7-?
Follicle scan on Sunday May 26th
Trigger hopefully Monday with a 24 hour IUI
on Tuesday.. I requested the 24 hour IUI
The last two were 36 hours and then I would sit in the
waiting room for 30 minutes then on the table pantless for 15 more
minutes...So to me it wasn't really 36 hours at all!
I expressed this concern to Dr. G and he had no problem
moving up to the 24 hour IUI
The only maybe tiny problem will be
the damn weekend! So Since Monday the 27th is Memorial Day
the Office is closed and will instead be seeing patients on Sunday..
Sunday is day 12 for me..so that works out perfectly
But...If I am over ready they will have me trigger that night
and continue with a 36 hour IUI...
If I am at say a 22 then I can trigger Monday and
have the 24 hour IUI Tuesday...
Have I lost you yet?!
Whew! It's like wham bam right into a new mix of things!
So my question to you girls is
How is Gonal-F?! what can I expect?

Baselines SUCK! :) who the hell wants to be wanded with Aunt Flo in town!
I was in a "don't touch me don't talk to me" Mood this morning! lol thanks for the moodiness AF!  :D
I feel better know that I know we are adding Gonal-F I feel like we
are actually "Doing More" than the same thing over and over...
So here we go! Cycle 10!

Femara + Gonal-F + Ovidrel + IUI = A BABY (hopefully!)

  1. I was so sad to see your last post...but I am very excited to see you are on to the next round! I did Femara and injectibles when I got my BFP. We did Bravelle, not Gonal F...but I really didn't have any side effects that I can remember. After I got past the idea of giving myself a shot in the stomach, the actual process wasn't that bad at all. Let's go round 10!!!

  3. I love the shot of you with your nose all scrunched up! You're so cute! I never had any problems with injectibles, I didn't even think they hurt! Fingers crossed!

  4. Yay for a plan! Way to go on adding injectibles, I'm praying that's as far as you have to go and this is your BFP moment! I didn't do injectibles with my iui's, but that is one of the options I am weighing now! I have always thought about doing 24 instead of 36...for some reason 36 always makes me think I'm missing a good window of time. Best of luck to you!
BTW...all that date math we have to do gives me a headache sometimes :)

  5. So excited that you guys have a plan!
I used Gonal-F and would say it is one of the easiest injections ever. It comes in a pen all ready to inject and the needle is tiny! I didn't experience any side effects other than bloating but that was probably more related to the large number of follicles growing.
Btw, I had my husband do the injections for me. It kind of felt that we would really be doing thus together.
    Good luck to you!!!

  6. Honestly, your new plan sounds awesome! I did Gonal-F during my first IVF cycle. Like Lya said, it's definitely one of the easiest injections ever! Compared to the other meds, it didn't even register on the pain scale. Plus, the fact that it comes in an easy-to-dose pen form is really nice :) Good luck!! XOXOXO

  7. I think adding in injectibles is a great idea. I remember how excited I was when that was our plan as well. Praying this works for you!! I don't have experience with Gonal-F, but did Follistim which is similar. I don't remember having any major side effects - I just remember I felt like my ovaries were going to explode the day after I triggered. Good luck!!!

  10. I never did gonal-f but from others descriptions it sounds a lot like follistim which was also a walk in the park compared to everything else we have all gone through. GOOD LUCK this cycle!!!

  11. My last cycle was Clomid (Femara) + Gonal-F + Ovidrel + IVF. It was my 6th stim & 8th transfer. My egg quality was better & I was finally successful. Hopefully it will be a winner for you as well.

    Happy ICLW!
